Brasstown Valley Resort understands the importance of luxurious accommodations, exceptional dining and the need of those who visit to escape into its wonder. Upscale resort style with a touch of rustic charm makes this travel getaway a one of a kind experience. Not once did I walk through the front door without a warm smile and a held open door. The front lobby captures the spirit of a luxury mountain cabin with a large floor to ceiling stone fireplace as its’ centerpiece. I was taken in by the fine décor, vaulted ceilings and wood accents that transform this area into a tranquil retreat. Steve and I were impressed by the expansive patio outside that overlooks the golf coarse. I suggest grabbing an Italian Wedding Martini from the bar while taking in the glorious sunset over the Blue Ridge Mountains..
Steve and I settled in to our room on the fourth floor with a corner view. I recommend asking for a corner room facing away from the parking lot when you make your reservation. With a window off to the side and balcony on the back, it allows for some spectacular views of The Blue Ridge Mountains. Accommodations were spacious and immaculately clean. The bed was snug and cozy.
Steve and I got lost in the miles of hiking trails that connect to Brasstown Valley Resort. I have to admit that I was pretty proud of myself for being able to hike as far as we did. The trails range from beginner to advanced so most anyone can enjoy the outdoor scenery. Maps are provided at the resort check in desk. However, I found using the marked trail to be the easiest. Positioned at the far end of the upper parking area you will find the best point of access to the hiking trails. Blue and green markers along the route help to guide you as well as the occasional sign. We enjoyed the graceful mountain slopes, gentle running creeks and rich colors of the wilderness. I did not horseback ride on this trip, but I was extremely excited to see a caravan of horseback riders along the way. The horse and hiking trails are separate, which is definitely a good thing.
Two truly amazing restaurants located on property mean you don’t have to leave. How wonderful it was to experience so many incredible food options at one resort. Brassies Grill offers casual dining, incredible cocktails and a fun atmosphere. The main dining room just off the lobby area offers fine culinary masterpieces. Steve and I ate there both nights. Friday night is the legendary seafood buffet ($29.95 adults) & Saturday night was my favorite prime rib buffet ($26.95 adults). This is not your average buffet. Brasstown Valley Resort offers truly delectable cuisine at an affordable price. Everything was cooked to perfection with a wide array of options. The service was impeccable without being overbearing and the ambience of the room was impressive. There appeared to be a lot of locals visiting the restaurant. If there is one thing I have learned in my travels, it is that you want to eat where the locals eat. See More Details…
Across the street from Brasstown Valley Resort resides the upscale Equani Spa. This full service luxury spa has everything you need to completely pamper yourself and unwind. Arrive early to take advantage of all the amenities Equani Spa has to offer. Upon arrival Steve and I utilized the respective steam rooms located with the locker and changing rooms. Embrace some additional quiet time in the relaxation area where soft lounging chairs provide a peaceful experience. We indulged in a soothing swedish couples massage. The experience was the ultimate way to take a breather from the hustle of the everyday. I had forgotten how absolutely wonderful it is to be spoiled for an afternoon. I left the Equani Spa with a renewed sense of self and peace.
Overall Experience – Brasstown Valley Resort & Spa
I knew we had arrived at a truly magical place and our experience at Brasstown Valley Resort & Spa exceeded my own expectations. I thought a lot about the words I would use in this article to capture our stay and strangely one word kept coming to my mind…. HONEST! Not exactly a word you would use to describe a resort, but honest captures the significance of the surroundings at Brasstown Valley Resort & Spa. From the unpretentious way the resort sits in the shadows of the Blue Ridge Mountains, to the sincere smiles on the faces of everyone we encountered, it was impossible not to fall in love with this place. Feeling pampered yet not feeling stuffy or uncomfortable to just be at ease. The experience was upscale and comfortable all at the same time. I do not know how after all my years in Chattanooga, I had never heard of this true American gem.
