Comical call center facts… If you are a follower of mine, you already know that I occasionally write on the topic of Call Center Life. I typically take a lighthearted approach. Lets face it there is an enormous amount of humor one can find in this career. Today I wanted to make a list of things I think every Call Center Agent can relate to. Please feel free to share and add your own experiences to this list.
You apologize way to much.
At some point in your career you needed anxiety medication. (See Side Effects of working in a Call Center)
You cringe if someone in your family yells on the phone at a customer service representative.
You never speak on the phone after the work shift is completed.
You are very talented at making silent hand gestures.
The hair on your head always has the faint outline of headsets.
Heaven is at least ten seconds between calls.
Hell is back to back calls with a hundred more in queue.
You are now accustom to shift changes every three to six months.
You never intended for call center work to become your career.
It’s now routine to be tethered to a phone eight hours a day.
Not much surprises you anymore and you have thick skin.
Not all call centers are created equal so you are very thankful if you work for a good one.
Laryngitis strikes at least once a year.
No one can truly understand the stress you face daily except another call center worker.
It’s hard to laugh anymore when you ask if you can help with anything else and you are asked for tonight’s lottery number.
Hope this list gave you a little smile as you go through the day. Follow my blog for future call center stories. XOXOX Kathy Brown
