The Chattanooga Riverwalk is a 13-mile paved trail that winds along the Tennessee River. The riverwalk offers views of the city skyline and mountains. Safety Tip: Due to limited security walking the riverwalk after dark is not recommended. 

When it comes to free places to visit this 7-acre  Park should be on the top of your list. Coolidge Park offers fun amenities, like a carousel, food trucks, splash pads, and wide spaces that are family-friendly. Located on the Northshore, Coolidge Park plays host to many festivals and community events.

The Walnut Street Bridge is a pedestrian-only bridge that connects downtown to the Northshore. This bridge is popular for walking, biking, and street performers. Take in the most magnificent sunsets after dining at one of the nearby restaurants. The Passage is hard to find, but most easily accessible from Ross’s Landing.  In the Summer these stairs turn into a cascading waterfall where children play in the water. 

The Holmberg Bridge is a free and constantly changing glass and steel pedestrian walking bridge next to the Hunter Museum, offering a unique and memorable experience for visitors to Chattanooga. Travel Tip: Visitors should note that it may not be suitable for those afraid of heights.

On hot summer days, the splash pads of Coolidge Park are the perfect way for kids and adults to cool down. Coolidge Park was developed as part of a larger effort to revitalize the North Shore waterfront area of Chattanooga.  It worked!

Rock City is a family-friendly attraction located on Lookout Mountain in Georgia. Spoiler Alert: Though I still believe Ruby Falls is worth the visit, as a local I have heard the falls are pumped in from a holding tank.

The Southern Belle is a historic paddle-wheel boat that cruises the Tennessee River.  Guests can enjoy a variety of touring options, one that includes dinner.  Though the inside of the boat can be crowded, guests can step up to the observation deck for a wonderful date night experience.

The Hunter Museum of Art in Chattanooga, TN is a great place for couples to visit and explore together.  The Hunter Museum location is romantic surrounded by coffee shops and cafes.  Special events are often hosted within this art museum.  I recommend subscribing to their newsletter of scheduled events.  Don’t miss the beautiful Tennessee River view from the observation deck.

Don’t be fooled by the name.  The Chattanooga Choo Choo is not an operating train station.  Instead, the choo choo is an entertainment area surrounded by bars, restaurants, and clubs.  This is a great place to start the evening or end up here late-night.

The Unknown Caller Bar and Lounge is a hidden bar at 715 Cherry Street.  Right now this bar is the most popular, at least judging by the line to get in.  Guest don’t just walk in either, there”s a whole secret process and payphone that needs to be figured out first.

Even if you’re not lucky enough to stay at the Kinley, be sure to visit and hang out in the hidden speakeasy. For those staying at the Kinley be sure to enjoy the trendy Southside and easy access to downtown.

I’m saving the best for last!  The number 1 place I would book a stay in Chattanooga, TN, is The brand-new Chalet. The Chalet Hotel used to be the Choo Choo and it has been completely remodeled, including the train cars.

The grounds are stunning, the outdoor pool is an oasis, and the train cars that can be booked for your stay are luxurious. Everything about The Chalet is stunning!

Nothing gets better than a hand-dipped scoop of Clumpies Ice Cream served up in a waffle cone. Happiness happens in a wide variety of flavors and toppings perfectly created by a third-generation candy maker. Three locations include Northshore, St. Elmo and Southside.
