Jacksonville has a wide array of dining options to choose from. As many times as we have visited the area, it would be impossible to try them all. Many times we find ourselves disappointed or underwhelmed and occasionally we are blown away. On our most recent getaway, Steve and I decided to eat at V Pizza in Jacksonville Beach Florida. Wow… This was one of those occasions where we were blown away.
The dining experience is exactly what you would expect being right next to the beach. There is an easy going and casual atmosphere that lends itself perfectly to the location. Patrons order at the counter and the food is delivered to your table once it’s ready. The space is open and inviting with some seating facing the street to create the perfect environment for some people watching. Large tables are available to accommodate larger groups and a full service bar named Flask and Cannon is the ideal place to socialize.
The most important reason to pay a visit to V Pizza is the amazing food. Steve and I started with the caprese salad and ended with a delicious traditional pepperoni pizza. You may wonder why I’m so excited about pizza. The reason is because finding authentic pizza isn’t as easy as you would think in the south. I could tell right away by the small amount of grease left on the pan that I was going to experience a treat. My father always told me if there’s no grease left behind, the ingredients are cheap. Good cheese leaves grease…. Sounds crazy I know, but I have found this to be true.. The crust was slightly burnt on the edges for added authenticity. The sauce was light and textured with pieces of tomatoes. Not over seasoned and extremely fresh. An ample amount of cheese and meats topped this traditional Napolitano Italian delight. Our caprese salad was crisp with tomatoes and real mozzarella cheese.
After our fantastic dining experience, I reached out to one of the owners of V Pizza, Paul Scott, for some additional information. Here’s what I found out..
