Las Vegas is famous for its bright lights and amazing shows, but have you heard about The Sphere? This new attraction has some cool surprises and some things you might not expect.  Today’s post is not sponsored and it is my real-world account of our first visit to the Las Vegas MSG Sphere.  All opinions are my own.

 Let’s check them out!

The Las Vegas MSG Sphere Overview:

What is the Sphere is Las Vegas, Nevada:

The Las Vegas Sphere isn’t just a building, it’s a dazzling entertainment experience. Imagine a glowing orb on the Strip, with a seamless dome interior and mind-blowing sound.

It’s like stepping into a sci-fi movie, with concerts, shows, and even thought-provoking pre-show journeys.  Don’t miss this Vegas must-see and here are some things to know before you visit The Las Vegas Sphere.

Midlife Travel Blogger Kathy Brown stands along the rail in the futuristic Las Vegas Sphere venue before the U2 concert.

1. Las Vegas Sphere is Not Easy to Spot

The Sphere isn’t right on the main Vegas Strip. It’s like a secret waiting to be found. We spent most of our time saying, “where the hell is it!”

Let me save you a little time.  The Las Vegas Sphere can not be seen from Las Vegas Blvd. The MSG Sphere entertainment complex is located behind the Venetian Hotel and Casino. Despite all the videos you have seen of the exterior of the Sphere, often advertisements are the only thing showing. Forget the happy face emojis, eyeballs, and fun images.  Often the only thing displayed on the exterior of the Sphere is a paid advertisement.

2. Venetian Adventure

Finding the entrance through the Venetian can be like a little maze adventure.  This maze through the casino floor is most likely by design to get you to gamble, but it’s super challenging. Even the employees of the Venetian seemed to be confused about the best way to enter the Sphere.

Ultimately, you will want to find a restaurant row and bare right towards the convention center.

Sphere Tip:  When the show is over, take the escalators to the ground floor at street level.  This will save a ton of time unless the weather is bad.

3. Small Bags Only

Remember, only bring a small bag inside. Keep things light for a comfy experience. If you forget and bring a bigger bag than what is allowed inside the Sphere, you will be asked to check your bag.

Travel Tip: I found a Linn Crossbody Bag from Rotunda, that is perfect for travel and meets the requirements to enter.

4. Awesome Views Everywhere

No matter where you sit, you’ll have a great view. Every seat is a good seat!

Our seats were in section 406, row 4.  These seats in the upper level would normally be considered the nosebleed seats. Happy to report, with the way the Las Vegas Sphere is constructed and the amazing visuals, we were extremely happy with our location.

5. Dance Party Zone

Some people might dance in the front, but most folks stay seated. It’s a mix of fun!

Normally I would be complaining about everyone sitting as being boring, but the Sphere is different. The inside visuals were so spectacular that I wanted to sit back unobstructed to take it all in.

Las Vegas Sphere Tip: For those who want to dance and stand, choose General admission or section 100.

For the best experience if the visuals inside the Sphere, choose a seat higher and center.  Side sections would have the worst view.

6. Amazing Sound Inside The Las Vegas Sphere

The music sounds incredible inside The Sphere. Get ready for a super cool listening experience.

The audio was crystal clear and every word Bono sang could be heard and appreciated.  I have linked an example below.  Images are from the center of the Sphere looking forward.

I wondered if it was at all weird for the performers onstage to have everyone looking forward instead of down towards the stage.

7. Postcards from Earth Show

Don’t miss the daily “Postcards from Earth” show. It’s like a mini adventure for your eyes and ears.

The current show Postcards from Earth shows daily and is relatively inexpensive by Vegas show standards.  Admission prices start at $70 and the show is an hour.

Purchasing tickets for this show at the Sphere is a must-do Vegas adventure and perfect for all ages.

See the Link for show times and ticket pricing:

Contrary to its grandeur, The Sphere is not easily seen from the bustling Las Vegas Strip. You might find yourself surprised as you navigate through the city's glittering lights, wondering where this hidden marvel could be.

8. Crowd's Quiet Appreciation

People are really into the show. No loud singing neighbors here, just everyone enjoying the music.

Something very special would be ruined if you had to listen to your concert-going neighbor sing every line.  I never realized how much this annoyed me, until I was met by the silence of the crowd in section 406.

For those who want to sing, purchase GA tickets to the Sphere Las Vegas.

9. Early Fun in the Lobby

Get there early to explore the lobby. It might be busy downstairs, but it’s worth checking out!

By the time we arrived at the lobby of the Sphere, there was too long of a line for us to want to wait for those exhibits.  Be sure to check out recommendation #11, for a better way to enjoy the Sphere lobby.

10. Overcoming Heights and Fear Visiting The Las Vegas Sphere:

If you’re scared of heights, don’t worry. The seats aren’t as high up as you might think. There’s even an elevator if you need it.

Steve doesn’t mind me telling you he is deathly afraid of heights.  I’ve seen this big strong man crumble on a sky lift once. For those fearing the heights and steep stairway issue, happy to report Steve was fine.

One exception, the escalators that lead up to each level are equally as steep and open on both sides.  We found a little-known secret elevator to the left of the escalators.  We found no line, even though we attended a sold-out U2 concert.

11. Free VIP Experience on Level 2

Go up to level 2 for an awesome view. You can enjoy a pricey drink and look down on the lobby. It’s a cool way to start your night!

Tip for The MSG Sphere: go to level two before the show.  Grab a pricey drink and stand at the side rail looking down at the lobby.  This area is less crowded and gives the best visuals of the entertainment below.

12. Save Money on Concert Tickets by Checking Fan Websites

Concert tickets for a show at The Las Vegas Sphere can be expensive.  However, there are ways to score those tickets at a much more reasonable price.

Take the U2 show we attended as an example.  My sister purchased tickets early and directly through the band’s website.  Doing this allowed us to purchase Sphere tickets at the published price and at a discount.  You may need to join the website, but the money saved is well worth it.

Our tickets in section 406, row 4 were less than $100 a piece, which is far less than prices paid later.

Final Wrap- Up

Visiting The Sphere is not just about the show, it’s about the surprises that make your time there special. Get ready for an adventure in the heart of Las Vegas!

Things I didn’t expect after watching a ton of videos and TikToks about the Sphere.

I did not realize the Sphere could not be seen from the Las Vegas Strip or how hard it would be to find.

My mind was blown by the sound quality and visual effects.

Seeing a concert at The Las Vegas Sphere is unlike anything you have ever experienced in seeing live shows.

With the immersive experience, the fact that even the upper-level seats are incredible, expect to remain seated and be glad for it.

For those more interested in a more traditional concert experience buy general admission or section 100 seating.
