It’s the remote undeveloped nature of the Outer Banks which makes it so desirable to tourists. That being said, to enjoy all these beautiful barrier Islands have to offer, you first must get there. Airports In The Outer Banks, North Carolina Information is listed below.
As a resident of the Southern United States, making the drive would take up a majority of my vacation time. It’s with this in mind, that I decided to share a quick guide to airports in and serving the North Carolina Outer Banks.
Starting With Where Are The Outer Bank Islands Of North Carolina:
USA Citizens often referred to the Outer Banks as OBX, The Outer Banks Of North Carolina are a 200-mile stretch of barrier islands that move from Southern Virginia to the Northeast Coast of North Carolina.
Most visitors to this chain of beaches, small coastal communities, and attractions typically arrive by car. Therefore most tourists live near the East Coast of The United States of America.
What Airports Are Close To Popular Outer OBX Destinations?
The best major airport to book for a vacation in the barrier islands of North Carolina is Norfolk International Airport. Norfolk International is approximately an 80-mile drive or roughly 2 1/2 hours depending on traffic. and what barrier island is your final destination.
Vacationers will have the added expense of booking a rental car. However, there are so many wonderful places to see that having a car is very desirable.
The second choice airport is Raleigh Durham International Airport. It is important to realize that the Raleigh Airport is 200 miles from your destination. Also, you need a rental car and add 3 – 4 hour drive to reach your destination.
My advice would be unless you can save a ton of money by flying into Raleigh, I would book through Norfolk.
Charter Flight Into A Regional OBX Airport:
Short on time and have extra money, tourists can always use an Outer Bank Air Charter Service. I have dreams of one day having this ultimate vacation experience. For now, I’ll just keep daydreaming.
Outer Banks Air Charter – (252) 256 -2322
Coastal Helicopter – (252) 475 – 4354
Barrier Island Aviation – (252) 449 – 2777
