Looking for the best Italian food in Chattanooga? As a Jersey Italian girl, I had to try Alleia, a local favorite buzzing with claims of “best in town.” Here’s my honest review, highlighting the ambiance, service, food, and whether it truly lives up to the hype.
Atmosphere (B+):
Alleia boasts a stylish, modern interior with a touch of rustic charm. While charming booths were available, our Tuesday evening reservation landed us in a less intimate backroom table in the middle of the room. Tip: Request a main dining room or window table for a more romantic vibe.
Drinks (A+):
Forget the disappointment! Their extensive wine and cocktail list is a winner. My espresso martini was divine, and Steve was equally impressed. We’d happily return just for drinks!
Service (A+):
Our waitress was a gem – knowledgeable, attentive, and accommodating (even removing mushrooms from Steve’s gnocchi). Top-notch service!
Food (B):
Deliciousness alert! Both the pumpkin ravioli and gnocchi with sausage were flavorful and satisfying. However, portion sizes felt a tad small for the price, especially considering pasta’s usual affordability. A side salad or bread with entrees would be a welcome addition.
Final Verdict:
Alleia shines for downtown Chattanooga’s Italian scene, offering delicious food, excellent service, and a stylish ambiance. While portion sizes could be more generous, the overall experience is enjoyable. However, for the best Italian in all of Chattanooga, further exploration might be needed.
