Spring has arrived in North Georgia, and the Barnsley Gardens Ruins are bathed in a warm and inviting light. The ruins are a testament to the beauty and resilience of nature, as vines and ivy have crept up the walls and claimed the space as their own. The gentle breeze carries the sweet scent of fresh blooms, making this the perfect spot for a leisurely stroll or a peaceful picnic. The Barnsley Gardens Ruins are a true treasure of the South and a must-visit destination for anyone seeking to bask in the splendor of the season.

Nestled in the heart of the North Georgia Resort, Barnsley, is a charming historic church surrounded by a riot of colorful blooms and fluttering butterflies. The gentle spring sunshine casts a warm glow over the quaint white facade of the church, while the surrounding garden is a tapestry of vibrant hues. Wildflowers and daffodils carpet the ground, while blossoming trees and shrubs reach for the sky. The church itself is a humble yet elegant structure, with wooden shutters and a bell tower that stands tall against the blue sky. The peaceful ambience is interrupted only by the gentle buzzing of bees and the occasional trill of a songbird. This idyllic scene is a perfect reminder of the joys of simplicity and the beauty of nature.

Hidden Luxury North Georgia Resort | The Barnsley

One of the things that surprised me most about Barnsley Gardens is how few people know about it.

Like a hidden secret, no one wants you to know about it because they want it to stay peaceful and quiet.

Even though the Barnsley Gardens are open to the public, it’s never crowded.

Historical places in Georgia US – Resort Barnsley, North Georgia.

Mesmerizing are the 3200 acres of immaculate landscaping, hiking trails, and The Manor House Ruins.

The manor house was built in the late 1840s by Godfrey Barnsley for his wife, Julia. I highly recommend visiting the resident historian for the full story of the ruins and their significance.

Explore Barnsley Resort on Two Wheels

We hadn’t ridden bicycles in decades, but we decided to rent a couple to explore the Barnsley Resort property further.

It was the most fun we had in a long time! After a shaky start, we quickly got the hang of it and pedaled our way through the beautiful grounds.

Barnsley Resort is a great place for North Georgia tourists to try new things.

You can book extra excursions for clay shooting, fishing, and other outdoor activities. I highly recommend the clay shooting package!

It was amazing to feel the power of shooting a twenty gauge for the very first time. Experiences like this are what make staying at Barnsley Resort so special.

Barnsley Resort also features an 1800-acre hunting preserve called Springbank Plantation, where you can hunt quail, pheasant, and turkey in season. And even if you’re not a golfer, the Barnsley Gardens golf course is a stunning sight to see. I imagine it must be pretty fantastic to play on, but it looks super exclusive.

Woodlands Grill: Romantic Dining at Barnsley Resort

North Georgia’s Woodlands Grill at Barnsley Resort offers a unique dining experience with its rustic yet refined decor and exquisite food offerings.

The menu ranges from simple to refined, with something for everyone’s taste.

Steve and I enjoyed a romantic dinner on the outside patio overlooking the breathtaking Barnsley Gardens golf course. The resort grounds added to the already romantic setting.

Woodlands Grill is an excellent choice for honeymooners or those celebrating a milestone anniversary. Here are a few recommendations for couples looking for a romantic dining experience:

Start with a cocktail or glass of wine. Woodlands Grill has a wide selection of drinks to choose from, including local craft beers and wines.

Order the chef’s tasting menu. This multi-course menu is the perfect way to sample some of the best dishes that Woodlands Grill has to offer.

Request a table on the outside patio. The views of the Barnsley Gardens golf course are simply stunning.

Don’t forget to save room for dessert! Woodlands Grill has a delicious selection of desserts, including the signature chocolate lava cake.
