Where to take your dog - Chattanooga, TN

Embracing Dog Parenthood with Jax

If you’re a dog lover visiting Chattanooga, TN, wondering where to hang out with fellow dog enthusiasts, this post is for you. Steve and I, now proud dog parents, discovered the perfect spot in our dog-friendly city – Play Wash Pint.

A few years ago, the idea of being a dog mom seemed amusing until our Goldendoodle, Jax, became a part of our lives. Now, he accompanies us wherever dogs are welcome.

The Dog-Friendly Charm of Chattanooga

Chattanooga is incredibly dog-friendly, with most outdoor eateries welcoming dogs and providing great spots for dog-friendly gatherings.

My preferred spot for fun with Mr. Jax is Play Wash Pint, an off-leash play yard, dog wash, and a bar – all in one.

Play Wash Pint is affordable for tourists, with a $10 one-day pass allowing your dog to enjoy the play area all day. For those 21 and older, there’s an option to purchase beer and socialize with other dog owners, with friendly park rangers providing assistance.

These park rangers guide dogs to play safely, possess knowledge of dog behaviors, and genuinely love what they do. Before visiting, ensure your pup is up-to-date on vaccinations, and pre-register to streamline the process.

Membership options are available, but for vacationers, a day pass is the best value. Wash stations, available at an extra cost, should be reserved, especially if your dog enjoys the pup pool.

Play Wash Pint hosts special events and allows booking for birthday parties. Note that no one under 16 is permitted on the dog playground, and aggressive or unsocialized pups may be asked to leave for everyone’s safety.

Paws and Precautions: Planning Your Visit

Before visiting, ensure your pup is up-to-date on vaccinations, and pre-register to streamline the process.

Observations reveal dogs of all sizes frequent Play Wash Pint, though medium to large dogs dominate. There’s a smaller play area for little dogs, but it’s often empty.

Sometimes, your dog may need a break, a fact I’ve reluctantly admitted. The rangers’ suggestions to give Mr. Jax a breather were right, and I appreciate their commitment to all dogs’ safety.

Play Wash Pint stands out as the best dog park in Chattanooga due to the dedicated rangers and the availability of brews. The staff knows dogs by name, understanding their temperaments.

Clean-up stations are provided, emphasizing the responsibility of dog owners to maintain cleanliness. Check Play Wash Pint’s hours online for seasonal changes, as dog rangers aren’t a substitute for your knowledge of your pet.

Mr. Jax's Perspective: A Dog's Delight at Play Wash Pint

Excitement, Play, and Post-Play Dinner Traditions

In Mr. Jax’s perspective, just uttering the words “dog park” excites him. After Play Wash Pint, we often head next door to State of Confusion, a dog-friendly eatery with a large outdoor area. Mr. Jax returns home happy and utterly exhausted, always requesting dinner promptly.
