The Best Colorado Springs Waterfall - Broadmoor Seven Falls
When chasing waterfalls, Colorado Springs offers an unforgettable experience at Seven Falls. Found in a scenic canyon, this famous attraction combines natural beauty, adventure, and even some holiday magic if you’re lucky enough to visit in late November like we did.
This Thanksgiving, Steve and I traveled to Colorado Springs to visit our son and stumbled upon what turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip—Seven Falls. Of course, visiting my Son was the top highlight! For those travelers planning to explore this Colorado Springs waterfall, here’s everything you need to know to make the most of your visit.
Getting There - Parking and Shuttle Service
Colorado Springs waterfall – Seven Falls doesn’t allow direct parking at the site, but don’t let that deter you. Free parking is available at the Broadmoor World Center Arena, where a complimentary shuttle picks you up and whisks you to the falls entrance in just 10 minutes. The shuttle runs every 15 minutes, making the process seamless and stress-free. The shuttle let us off at the trail entrance where we purchased our tickets.
The Broadmoor Resort offers a shuttle service to Seven Falls and The 1858 Restaurant. We were not lucky enough to book a room at the Broadmoor, but it is 100% on our bucket list. Talk about Luxury and scenic beauty!
Broadmoor Seven Falls Free Shuttle parking area is at 1045 Lower Gold Camp Road, Colorado Springs, CO 80905.
Admission costs to see this popular Colorado Springs waterfall vary with several discounted options available. On the day we booked this attraction, I paid $23 and Steve got a senior discount of $16. However, what we did not know was that since we were eating at Restaurant 1859, the entrance fee could have been completely free.
The Hike to Seven Falls
Once you arrive, prepare for a scenic uphill walk to reach this best Colorado Springs waterfall. The hike is just under a mile and paved, making it accessible for most fitness levels—even for those of us in our late 50s! Along the way, you’ll be treated to beautiful scenery, including a gently flowing stream that adds to the serene atmosphere.
While the path is relatively easy, we visited in November, and it was cold, so be sure to dress in layers and bring a hat and gloves. If walking uphill in chilly weather isn’t your thing, don’t worry—a golf cart service is available to take you back down once you’ve soaked in the views.
Taking in the Views: The Best Colorado Springs Waterfall
At the top of the path, guests have two options to take in the breathtaking sight of Seven Falls.
1. The Elevator to the Viewing Platform
A convenient elevator whisks you to a viewing platform, offering panoramic views of the waterfalls. This is a great option if you prefer a relaxing way to admire the falls in all their glory.
2. The Stairs to the Waterfalls
For those feeling adventurous, steep stairs wind their way through all seven cascading waterfalls. Unfortunately, during our visit, the stairs were closed due to snow. While I can’t say we would have braved them anyway, the view from the elevator platform was nothing short of spectacular!
Dining at Restaurant 1858
One of the highlights of our visit was lunch at Restaurant 1858, located right at the base of the falls. The warm, rustic atmosphere was the perfect retreat after a chilly hike. This restaurant is incredibly popular, so I highly recommend making reservations in advance.
If reservations aren’t possible, try arriving as soon as the restaurant opens at 11 AM. The menu features hearty dishes that will leave you fueled and ready for more exploration.
Pro Tips for Visiting Seven Falls
1. Arrive Early: The park opens in the morning, and we arrived just as it did. The grounds were peaceful and uncrowded, but by 1 PM, the area was bustling, and the serene experience we enjoyed earlier had transformed into a much busier one.
2. Plan for the Weather: November temperatures in Colorado Springs can be chilly, so dress warmly and wear comfortable shoes.
3. Take Advantage of the Golf Cart: If the cold or the hike is too much, ask for a golf cart ride back to the entrance. It’s a simple way to ensure you leave with a smile instead of sore feet.
4. Seasonal Opening: I visited the Colorado Springs Seven Falls in Late November. 7 Falls & Restaurant 1858 is closed seasonally from Early December to mid-March yearly.
5. Learn From Our Mistake: I did not know that if you have reservations at Restaurant 1858 you do not have to pay the Seven Waterfall entrance fee. Lesson learned by me and passed on to you for extra money savings.
More Waterfalls in the Pikes Peak Region
While Seven Falls is undoubtedly the crown jewel of Colorado Springs waterfalls, the Pikes Peak Region is home to several other stunning cascades worth exploring. Helen Hunt Falls, located in North Cheyenne Cañon Park, offers a shorter, more accessible hike with equally mesmerizing views.
For those venturing closer to Pikes Peak, consider visiting Rainbow Falls, affectionately known as “Graffiti Falls” for its colorful rock walls, or Crystal Creek Reservoir, which features smaller waterfalls and serene surroundings. These hidden gems add to the allure of the region, making the Pikes Peak area a waterfall lover’s paradise.
Steve and I spent approximately two hours walking the road to the falls, viewing the falls from the main observation deck, and then enjoying lunch at 1858. The Visitor Center is a wonderful place to buy a souvenir to remind you of the journey.
Other top Colorado Springs waterfalls and hiking trails include Cascade Falls, Cheyenne Canyon, and Silver Cascade.
Other Must-See Attractions Near Seven Falls
If you’re visiting Seven Falls, make sure to explore the other incredible attractions nearby in the Pikes Peak Region. Just a short drive away, you’ll find the iconic Pikes Peak, known as “America’s Mountain,” where you can take the scenic drive or cog railway to its breathtaking summit. For a touch of luxury, stop by The Broadmoor—not only does it offer world-class accommodations, but you can also stroll its beautifully manicured grounds for free, even if you’re not staying there.
Additionally, don’t miss the awe-inspiring Garden of the Gods, a National Natural Landmark featuring towering red rock formations and excellent walking trails. For a charming small-town experience, Steve and I loved visiting Manitou Springs, a historic town full of quirky shops, delicious restaurants, and natural mineral springs. Each of these destinations added something special to our trip, and we highly recommend adding them to your itinerary when visiting Colorado Springs!
