1. Stop Buying Disposable Fashion

Why keep buying cheap fashion that will last a season?  Purchasing better-made, sustainable fashion will last years.  My wardrobe was filled with fashion brands that sold on the cheap known as fast fashion.  Brands like Temu, Shein, and back in the day Wal-Mart.  Today I recognize the importance of spending a little more money to wear fashion that stays in my closet and out of the landfills.  Life Lesson – Purchase ethical fashion then recycle through gifting, thrifting, or reselling.

5 Ways to Stop Buying Disposable Fashion

1. Invest in a timeless piece

2. Quality over quantity

3. Embrace second-hand shopping

4. Learn basic sewing skills

5. Opt for sustainable brands

2. Knowing Your Worth is a Powerful Life Lesson

So many share stories of heartbreak and lost opportunities simply by not knowing their worth.  As women, we often struggle through bad relationships with men who do not know how to treat us.  Set yourself free at last by knowing you are worth it.  The lesson is to know how a good man treats a woman.

4. Social Media is Lying to You So Create Your Path

Real life and social media are not the same. Online profiles are filled with lies. Technology alters appearances, backgrounds, and the news and has negative impacts on mental health.  People tend to judge themselves against a false narrative of looks on Instagram, and other social media platforms. Pay attention to clues that filters, fake backgrounds, or deep fakes are being used to sell your products.

4. Look for duplicate elements

5. Taking Action in The Right Direction is Better Than No Action at All.

The old saying. “nothing changes if nothing changes, still holds today.  Observe a situation, and surroundings and take action.  Manifestation, journalling, and vision boards are great tools, but nothing will happen without action.  Inner peace often comes with making changes outside a comfort zone.

Working towards a career is great, but know that in the present moment, you can always be replaced by your employer.  In today’s world, the choices a job makes will ultimately have nothing to do with you. Your employer will always choose the interest of its CEO and Shareholders, over you.   That being said, the lesson is to always look out for yourself and put your needs ahead of your place of employment.

In your youth skin care is as easy as washing with soap and water.  Trust me, your face will pay the price over time for bad skincare habits.  Adopt a good skincare routine early in life and wear sunscreen.  The cost does not need to be expensive but look for natural ingredients, cruelty cruelty-free skincare products.

8. Set Financial Goals Early

It is never too early to start preparing for the future. Setting financial goals, maintaining good credit, and putting money aside in a savings account is key to successful long-term and short-term finance goals.  Personal finance and planning is a valuable life lesson.  The creation of debt and loans will steal happiness in the long run.

9. Somethings and Persons Are Not Meant to Last a Lifetime

Relationships, friendships, and situations will funnel into your life and then disappear.  Not all people or places are meant to last forever.  We often hold on with fear of letting go.  Lesson learned – People are brought into your life for personal growth reasons.  Once that reason is fulfilled in the soul it’s time to move forward.  Allow yourself time to grieve the loss of the person and then move on with your own life.

10. Gratitude Puts a New Perspective On Life

The mind works in mysterious ways and learning to be happy for the little things in our lives is key.  Gratitude is a daily practice and often it’s as easy as being grateful for small joys in life. Practicing gratitude strengthens the relationships around you and is a positive self-care strategy.  I challenge you to say one thing you are grateful for right now.

11. Protect Your Mental Health at All Costs and Ask For Help

My Generation, GenX, is notorious for stuffing down our feelings.  We grew up with the phrase, “suck it up.”  The takeaway from this life lesson is the importance of seeking help.  Not only do you deserve to be happy but so do the people around you.  Mental health conditions, need to be a high priority in life.

Opinions are like *#$ ( everyone has one)! That adage is so true. The sooner you start living your authentic self, the happier you will be.  Others think what they want, but that doesn’t make it true.  Listen with an open mind to the people you trust, but understand your destiny is in your hands.  Assert yourself, live your truth, and find your path.

13. Value Experiences Over Possessions

Forget keeping up with the Joneses! Secure your future, then ditch the debt and embrace sustainable fashion choices. It’s time to explore the world! Travel opens your eyes to new cultures, yourself, and amazing memories. Those experiences will last a lifetime, unlike that car loan weighing you down. Pack your bags, take a chance, and invest in experiences that truly matter!
