As far back as I can remember, searching for the best Christmas lights has been a family tradition. I would imagine this would be the case for most Americans.

After all, nothing screams Merry Christmas louder than an outrageous Christmas light display. The more twinkle and sparkle – the better.

Todays travel post will highlight the Christmas lights in Macon, GA and why it’s a must-see.

Starting with - Where is Macon, Georgia?

Steve and I must have driven through Macon, Georgia a hundred times on our way to another vacation destination. Honestly, it never occurred to us to stop in Macon for a weekend getaway.

That being said, you should definitely make that stop off Interstate 75 to check out this charming Georgia city. Here are more details about Macon, GA, and how to immerse yourself in holiday cheer

Light Extravaganza Show Times – Christmas lights in Macon, GA

Illuminate happens each evening at 6 pm, with shows every top of the hour.

Notably, the final 45-minute show takes place at 9 p.m.

Light displays remain for viewing with music starting at the top of each hour.

Our Thoughts:

Steve looked at me and pretty much summed up our experience like this – It’s like being placed in the middle of a Hallmark Christmas Movie.

Something about the people of Macon makes this one of the best holiday events. Everyone was so thoughtful, helpful, and downright friendly.

The City of Macon created a small-town American feel, even though the city itself is fairly large. At one stop along the way, locals had a smores station set up with a free smores kit, complete with marshmallows, chocolate, graham crackers, and fire for roasting. I might add, all free of charge.

One hundred thousand times worth the visit to see the holiday lights in downtown Macon. I strongly encourage those traveling from out of town to plan an entire weekend in Macon. There is so much to see and do that we are already plotting out our next visit.

If this annual Macon, GA event does not put you in a Christmas mood, then you must be a Grinch.

Merry Christmas from the Brown Family

(Thank you to Visit Macon for hosting our weekend stay and letting us experience this truly magical holiday event. All opinions of this post are my own.)
