When I think about Martha’s Vineyard one word comes to mind, “wealthy.”  It might be all those entertainment shows I’ve watched over the years that let me know the exclusivity of Martha’s Vineyards.  Here’s the truth, everyone is welcome in the Marthas Vineyard, but it is more upscale shabby chic.

Where and What Makes Martha's Vineyard a Great Destination:

Martha’s Vineyard is an island located off the southern coast of Massachusetts. Massachusetts is known for its natural beauty and charming towns. The island is home to several quaint towns, each with its unique character and history.

When considering how to get to this island, consider using a ferry.  Several ferry services are available that take passengers to the charming town of Martha’s Vineyard.

When considering where to book accommodations, most will opt for vacation rentals, bed and breakfasts, or one of the hotels on the island.

Popular places to book a stay include Oak Bluffs Inn, Mansion House, Inkwell Beach House, or the Winnetu Oceanside Resort.  Notice not any chain hotels on this list!

Everyone would enjoy Martha’s Vineyard, but a few categories of travelers come to mind.  I recommend Martha’s Vineyard for an older tourist, couples, and families with older children.  Consider this vacation tame with a lot of lazy afternoons, beach walks and great places to eat.

Most Popular Attractions In Martha Vineyard:

One of the most popular towns on the island is Edgartown. Edgartown features charming colonial-era homes, tree-lined streets, and a beautiful harbor filled with yachts. The town also has several galleries and restaurants that offer a range of cuisine from fresh seafood to farm-to-table fare.

Another popular town on the island is Oak Bluffs. Oak Bluffs is known for its charming gingerbread cottages, which are painted in bright colors. The town also features a lovely harbor and several popular beaches, including the scenic Joseph Sylvia State Beach.

What Martha's Vineyard is Known for

Martha’s Vineyard is also known for its natural beauty, with several protected areas that offer hiking, birdwatching, and other outdoor activities. The island is home to several beaches, including South Beach, which stretches for several miles and offers stunning views of the ocean and the surrounding dunes.

Final Wrap-up

Overall, Martha’s Vineyard is a beautiful and tranquil destination, with history,  unique culture, and natural scenery that draws visitors from around the world.

Most travelers vacationing in this area decide to rent vacation homes. This is the most popular way to plan a vacation getaway. Check out VRBO for great deals, but keep in mind the peak summer season can be quite pricey.
