Las Vegas Travel Tips For The Over 50 Tourist.

Hello again friends.  Steve and I  just returned from a wild weekend in Las Vegas or at least wild by my over 50 mind. That being said, I have some awesome tips for your trip to maintain comfort and have a great time in Vegas.

It’s the perfect mix of chill and excitement for the older traveler.

Nightlife on the Las Vegas Strip featuring the iconic Planet Hollywood and Paris Casino, aglow in a sea of dazzling lights. A lively scene capturing the essence of Sin City's energy after dark.

1. Navigating the Strip with Ease - A Step in the Right Shoes:

During our Las Vegas vacation, Steve and I happily walked 20,000 steps a day, embracing the broken escalators on the strip. It’s a reminder to wear stylish and comfortable footwear, like my trusty adidas sneakers. Ditch those stilettos and opt for senior-friendly and fashionable sneakers for a delightful Las Vegas adventure.

2. Timing is Everything when it comes to a Vegas Getaway.

Weekdays in Las Vegas offer a more relaxed atmosphere with lower hotel rates, fewer crowds at restaurants, and easier access to popular shows compared to the busier weekends. Visitors like us, who prefer a quieter Vegas experience, often choose to travel during the Winter months to avoid the sweltering summer heat and peak seasons in Spring and Fall. We noticed a gradual decrease in crowd size during our Vegas Vacation from Wednesday to Sunday, highlighting the benefits of exploring the city midweek.

Take-Away: Mid-week Winter is the Best time to visit Las Vegas for seniors

3. Planning for Strategic Vegas Hotel Choices

Choosing accommodations slightly off the Strip can provide a more relaxed stay while still maintaining easy access to the excitement. Consider exploring areas like Downtown Las Vegas or slightly off the main drag for quieter evenings and a chance to discover local gems. On our recent Vegas vacation, we stayed at the budget-friendly Linq Hotel. While not the most luxurious, the clean room, comfortable bed, and friendly staff made it a great choice for us older tourists. The location, access to the monorail system, and wonderful dining and entertainment options on the prominade added to our enjoyable stay.

Travel Tip: Consider Freemont Street, Promenade, or monorail stop hotels and resorts.

4. Show Selection For The Wise

For a more enjoyable experience, consider attending shows with earlier time slots in Las Vegas. Opting for matinee shows or those scheduled in the early evening can offer better seating options and allow you to explore the city’s vibrant entertainment scene before bedtime. Keep in mind that the brand-new MSG sphere is worth a visit for the must-see Postcards From Earth, but concerts here are best enjoyed late into the night. My friends and I were truly amazed by the U2 concert we attended, making it an unforgettable experience.

Overall Entertainment Wrap-up:  Top Vegas shows for mature audiences can be found during earlier performances.  Don’t miss a show at the MSG Sphere for a splurge concert or budget-friendly Postcards from Earth.

5. Las Vegas Dining Delights for Discerning Tastes

I remember the $9.95 all-you-can-eat Vegas buffets, but those days are gone. Dining in Las Vegas has become pricier over time. If you haven’t been in a while, plan your budget accordingly. Explore off-strip eateries for local flavors and intimate dining experiences. While the Strip offers renowned establishments, don’t miss out on hidden gems with fewer crowds and reasonable prices off the beaten path. Finding the best restaurants in Las Vegas for mature travelers may require more planning now that affordable buffets and specials are a thing of the past.

6. Healthy Hedonism

Las Vegas is not only about glitz and glamour but also offers numerous opportunities for relaxation.

After a night of excitement, consider unwinding with a spa treatment or a session at the hotel’s fitness center.

Spa days are a perfect way to ensure well-being amid the city’s exciting things to do.

Remember Las Vegas is a Desert vacation and the climate is dry.  Be sure to drink lots of water throughout the day and balance adult beverages with plenty of H2O.

Reminders: Wellness tips for seniors in Las Vegas include lots for water, plan for downtime and selfcare.

7. Gambling Wisely On A Vegas Vacation

The thrill of Las Vegas awaits as you try your luck at the casinos, but remember to approach gambling with a budget in mind. Opt for penny slots for entertainment without the risk of major losses. Set a limit, enjoy the games, and soak up the exciting atmosphere without the fear of overspending. Don’t end up like me, coming home with only $5 in my purse. Stick to your budget, explore the penny slots for fun, and consider the lower table limits offered at older casinos for a more budget-friendly experience.

Travel Tip: Senior-friendly gambling tips in Vegas include setting a budget, playing the penny slots, and looking at smaller casinos for lower table limits.

8. Capture The Moments in Las Vegas, NV

Las Vegas is a treasure trove of incredible photo opportunities, making it a delight to capture memories. Whether you’re snapping shots of famous landmarks or dazzling displays, remember to stay mindful, especially in busy areas. Be sure to stay alert, keep your belongings safe, and let your focus on creating unforgettable memories enhance your experience without compromising your safety.

Wrap-up: Photography tips for seniors in Las Vegas include being aware.  As in any big city, crime and thefts are up among unsuspecting tourists.

Armed with these insightful tips, whether you’re a seasoned Vegas visitor or a first-timer, your Sin City escapade is bound to be a perfect blend of excitement and relaxation. As the saying goes, what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas – except for the incredible memories you’ll carry with you. Until the next adventure, happy travels
