Downtown Bristol boasts two historic theaters.  The Cameo Theater is a small historic location.  There has been some debate on Cameo’s future in Downtown Bristol and needs renovation.  The better of the two would be the Paramount.   The Paramount offers a wide variety of performances from comedy, broadway, and live music.  For those looking for trip ideas, it is recommended to check the show schedules.  You never know what you can find to work into your evening itinerary.

When deciding where to eat in Bristol, I highly recommend The Blackbird Bakery and coffee shop. The Blackbird has two locations. The first location is downtown, next to the Country Music Museum at 188 Piedmont Avenue, Bristol, Virginia 24101. The second is a drive-through-only shop found at 970 Commonwealth Avenue, Bristol, VA. Hours of Operation Monday – Saturday 7 am to 10 pm – Closed Sundays. This delectable destination needed its very own number on my list. It’s that Good!

Steve and I loved our stay at the Bristol Hotel! We found the hotel within walking distance of most downtown Bristol attractions. The hotel has a fantastic rooftop bar, great rooms, and a friendly staff.

Final Wrap-up and Travel Finds: 

Bristol/ TN VA is conveniently located right off Interstate 81 making this a perfect stop for a family or couples weekend. Steve and I consider Bristol to be among our favorite small towns in the Tri-Cities area of Bristol, Johnson City, and Kingsport.

I often include a weekend getaway within a larger I-81 road trip, since there are so many wonderful places to stop along the way. I can leave my house in Chattanooga, TN, and be relaxing in Bristol in a mere 4 hours.

Yes, Bristol is a charming mountain town, with a great downtown area, perfect for racing enthusiasts and those looking for gaming, Bristol is the future home of The Hard Rock. This makes Bristol a top pick for an adult vacation destination.

State Street is interesting since the road splits two states. One side of the street is Virginia and the other side is Tennessee. State Street is also the hub of the downtown district and offers great bars, restaurants and shops.

Knoxville, TN, and Roanoke, Va are the closest major cities to Bristol/ TN VA. A smaller metropolis near Bristol would be Kingsport, TN, Johnson City. and Boone, NC.
