Tourists not staying at a resort with a private beach could spend a lot of time searching for the most beautiful beaches in the Keys.

Guests flock to the southern islands of the United States Florida Keys for its tropical shores. Although that may be true, it’s also important to expect the most breathtaking beaches to be private.

Also important to note is that unless you have a clear idea of where to drive, you could spend half the day looking for the most popular beach spots.

This post is designed to save you time and help you get the most out of your Florida Keys vacation. Listed below is our recommendation for the best beach in the Florida Keys – Bahia Honda Beach

Where Is Bahia Honda State Park Beach Located:

Bahia Honda State Park – Bahia Honda Key, FL located at mile marker 37. What makes this Florida Key State park so special is that it shares two stunning bodies of water.

Guests can choose views of the Atlantic Ocean or walk over to the Gulf Of Mexico.

Unlike most other beaches that are accessible to the public, Bahia Honda Key is visible from Highway 1 just before road-trippers enter Big Pine Key.

State Park Florida Keys Bahia Honda Overall Beach Day Experience:

The Beaches of Bahia Honda are a must-see for the brilliance of the waters, the swaying tall palms, the tropical nature trails, and the iconic bridge open to guests.

Important Note: Seagrass is visible and does line the shores. Many visitors wonder why the seagrass is left in a natural state. This is done to protect the natural ecosystem of the shoreline.

Tourists will find plenty of open beaches and the amount of Seagrass on the beach can vary based on the season. Though I have seen some travelers complain, I had no issue with it and found the sandy shores to be gorgeous.

Questions About The Broken Bridge At Bahia Honda?

Partially destroyed in the Labor Day hurricane of 1972 guests are able to walk partially up the broken bridge of Bahia Honda. YouTube video shows the view as seen on a cell phone camera.

Walking up the bridge was relatively easy with a slight upward grade. A short nature walk is required before reaching the entrance to the bridge.

In Conclusion: Why I Consider Bahia Honda Beach The Best Beach In The Florida Keys:

Stunning beaches line both the Atlantic and Gulf Coast. The cost is affordable and budget-friendly. Plenty of activities are available in one gorgeous destination. Beach-combing, kayaking, biking, nature walks, camping, boat tours, sun-seeking, memory-making, and for this year plenty of ways for social distancing.
