Hi, everyone! I want to share my super fun experience learning to fish with Sandy Springs River through Atlanta, Georgia. The owner, Chris, is like a fish expert, and he helped me catch three trout on my very first fly fishing try! It was so cool!

Travel blogger Kathy Brown and her husband Steve sitting in a samll fishing boat. Kathy has caught a fish and is holding it up for the camera with excitement. Her Husband looks in amazement in what she has caught before throwing back into the lake.

Learning with Chris:

Chris is the boss at River Through Atlanta, and he’s good at teaching fishing.

He was patient when I messed up and even made the tangled lines fun.  He’s funny and made the learning part easy.

Exploring the Chattahoochee River:

The river we fished in was called the Chattahoochee, and it was so pretty. The water sparkled, birds sang, and every time I cast my line, it felt like a little adventure. It made me feel like a kid dreaming about catching fish, and guess what? I caught some!

Becoming a Fishing Pro: - Not Really

Chris and River Through Atlanta have everything you need to learn how to fish like a pro. They give you the gear, teach you all the cool moves, and cheer you on. All you have to do is be ready for an adventure and want to learn.

Learning fly fishing from the best! Me and Chris Scalley, owner of River Through Atlanta, enjoying a beautiful day on the river.

How to Book Your Fishing Tour:

Booking a tour with River Through Atlanta is easy. Go to their website and find the info about tours and prices. Pick the one you like, and then contact them using the details on the website. They’re happy to help whether you want to go alone or with friends.

Conclusion: Learning to Fly Fish In Atlanta

My fishing adventure with River Through Atlanta was awesome! Chris is the best teacher, the river is beautiful, and catching fish made me so happy. If you want to have a great time and learn to fish, book a tour with River Through Atlanta. I promise you’ll have a blast!

Learning to fly fish isn’t something normally associated with Atlanta.  For this reason, I wanted to share my experiences.

Fly Fishing lesson was part of a larger romantic weekend getaway in Sandy Springs, Georgia.  Sandy Springs is a suburb of Atlanta and is highly recommended for a fun weekend vacation.

Kathy Brown

Kathy Brown

Travel & Lifestyle Blogger Over 50

Yes, I’m over 50. Yes, I love early bird specials. But that doesn’t mean I’m settling for a life of bingo nights and sensible shoes.** I’m Kathy Brown, a Chattanooga-based travel and lifestyle blogger who’s traded bingo halls for bucket lists and exchanged sensible shoes for sensible adventures. (Okay, maybe I still pack sensible shoes, but only for the plane ride. #Priorities)

Think of me as your sassy travel fairy godmother, sprinkling wanderlust and laughter on your newsfeed.

I’ll show you how to explore the world (and your backyard) without breaking the bank or your back. Because let’s face it, aging is inevitable, but looking and feeling fabulous on your next adventure? Totally optional (but highly encouraged).

Expect witty travel tales, hilarious mishaps (I’m a walking disaster zone), and insider tips for the mature (but still totally cool) traveler.

We’re talking hidden gems, delicious eats that won’t blow your dentures out, and age-appropriate activities that don’t involve bingo or complaining about the weather. (Although, let’s be honest, sometimes the weather deserves a good rant.)

So, ditch the rocking chair and grab your passport, sugar.

It’s time to prove that life after 50 is the real happy hour. Join me on this wild ride, and let’s show the world that even with a few extra candles on our cake, we can still laugh, explore, and maybe even do a tequila shot without faceplanting. (Disclaimer: I’m not responsible for any tequila-induced faceplanting. But I’ll laugh about it with you.)

And remember darling: Age ain’t nothin’ but a number. It’s the laugh lines and the wild stories that truly define you. Now go out there and make some memories that’ll give your grandkids something to talk about!

P.S. Don’t forget to check out my blog for Chattanooga-specific tips and tricks. Because even hometown adventures deserve a little Kathy Brown magic.
